Register the IMEI of Cellphones Purchased from Abroad So They Are Not Blocked

The regulation on blocking BM’s illegal (black market) cellphones via IMEI numbers will take effect from April 18 onwards. Cellphones purchased from abroad are even required to register the IMEI, if you don’t want to be blocked.

As the Director General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance, Heru Pambudi, IMEI numbers for mobile phones from abroad must be registered via the imei.kemenperin.go.id page.

Registration must be done before the cellphone is activated and connected to a cellular network in Indonesia. If the IMEI number is not registered, then the cellphone is claimed to be an illegal cellphone. So that the blocking of the cellular network will be carried out, and the user will not be able to connect at all.

“If you forget your alias is not registered and not registered, it will be blocked. So the cellphone cannot be used, “said Heru at the Office of Communication Communications and Information Technology.

Heru also emphasized that later cellphones purchased from abroad must pay taxes when they enter Indonesia through Customs. The minimum value for a mobile phone must be taxed when entering Indonesia is 500 US dollars.
