DC Films’ big screen adventure looks like it will soon begin. According to a new tweet from Umberto Gonzalez, the upcoming Joker film goes into production in the next two weeks.

The film remains on track with a previously announced “early fall” production start

While the Joker concept initially puzzled fans when it was first announced, the film is outside of the main DC Extended Universe continuity.

The film will be set in the 80s and is potentially R-rated. This story will tell the Joker, played by Joaquin Phoenix, who started his life as a comedian before turning into a crazy criminal.

Joker will be directed by director Todd Phillips and production executive by Martin Scorsese. Apart from Phoenix, this film will also star Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, and Marc Maron. And it turns out, Phoenix already has an idea of how he will play the Joker.
