30 Coolest Movies 90s: Exploration & Mixing Era in Hollywood

If the era of exploration music industry happened in the decade of the 70s, then the film industry (especially in Hollywood), occurred in the decade of the 90s.

In this decade, it could be said that there was none genre dominant one. Whether it’s drama, horror, comedy sci-fi, in fact, animation has all been equally bustling this decade. Plus, in the 90s this was the first time Hollywood began experimenting with exploration genre other.

And one of exploration genre “Unusual” first practice which was in the 2000s and is now a hit, is found-footage horror or found-footage in general.

Anyway, everything is mixed up, chaos and the world entertainment in this decade. But in the midst of the chaos, here are 30 of his films that I consider the coolest in his era.

30.Scream (1996)

Can be said genre horror in the 90s is very sluggish. There are some cool ones. But in general, well, meh.

Now in the midst of this lethargy, a film by the legendary horror director, Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street) this, success reignited genre the favorite of this million people.

And apart from being a costume Ghostface the iconic, is a parody horror concept but in the end it is still prioritizing the elements of horror that makes Scream so unique.

Plus, it was the film that popularized television actress Neve Campbell (Party of Five) This shows the background of teenage characters in this decade, aka Generation X (Gen-X) which of course, makes the film feel even more relatable with the state of his generation at that time.

29. Jurassic Park (1993)

Having amazed us all 2 decades in a row with Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1978) and ET (1982), the accomplished director Steven Spielberg again dominated the following decade, with the release of this super popular dinosaur film.

In terms of the story, the film, which was adapted from the novel by Michael Crichton (1990), is indeed normal. But what made this adaptation cool and legendary was the sophistication of the technology effect that succeeded in making the audience at that time believe that T-Rex and his friends were real.

Not to mention, the film shows the cool performance of all the actors which as a result, makes all the characters in the film are still remembered today.

28. Mission: Impossible (1996)

It is undeniable that this is a spy drama series Mission: Impossible which aired from 1966-1973), was a huge hit.

No doubt when Tom Cruise (A Few Good Man) together with Paramount Pictures took the initiative to make this big screen version, there are quite a lot of people who are skeptical.

But in the end, the skepticism turned into thundering applause when this inaugural adaptation was very successful in the market. Indeed, in the narrative, the story of this film has a plot and twist which is quite musingin nutmeg.

But all of that is a little forgivable and covered in scenes action cool and of course, the awesome and convincing appearance of Cruise as the top spy agent Impossible Mission Force (IMF), Ethan Hunt.

27.Dazed & Confused (1993)

Long before the success of the trilogy Before (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight) and Boyhood (2014), is a film coming of age this is what popularized the figure of director Richard Linklater.

And the same as with Boyhood as well as other Linklater films, it is the script that is 50% written & 50% improvised by the players that make the story of the film, it feels like watching a documentary real-life only.

Plus with the style of the script, we can also see the development of the characters without feeling artificial. Oh yes, an aspect that should not be overlooked is that all of the popular film actors who appear in this film.

Ben Affleck (Justice League), Adam Goldberg (Saving Private Ryan), Renee Zellweger (Judy), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), and of course Matthew McConaughey (Magic Mike) which from this film, he popularized catchphrase the top, “Alright, Alright, Alright”.

26. Reality Bites (1994)

I’m sure that many of you (including me) will dry it first soundtrack the film rather than the film itself.

Yes, this is the film that popularized the 90s hit song “Stay (I Missed You)” belongs to top female vocalist, Lisa Loeb. But make no mistake guys. Reality Bites aka the movie, it’s just as cool.

Same as Scream and Dazed & Confused, is the focus of the Generation X romance that makes the Ben Stiller film (The Cable Guy) This becomes very fun and romantic when witnessed.

25. The Quick and the Dead (1995)

Actually a cowboy movie (western) direction Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) This is no different from most cowboy films.

But that made it The Quick and the Dead so remembered, of course, is the cinematography, direction and concept of the story lone gunwomenvery much fresh at that time (usually the main character of cowboy films, is a male cowboy).

Oh yes, don’t forget all the super top actors involved, starting with the senior Gene Hackman (Superman) to Leonardo DiCaprio (Titanic) young. No wonder this film is often considered the most popular underrated not only for the size of 90s films, but also in Raimi’s filmography.
